Liate Wote and Tagbo Falls
An NCRC & Partners Community-Based Ecotourism Site

Liate Wote offers a steep, challenging climb up Mount Afadjato for incredible views, and a leisurely hike to the picturesque Tagbo Waterfalls. The waterfall flows from almost circular cliffs with lush vegetation climbing the sheer walls, and fills a plunge pool for safe swimming in the cold water. Explore paths winding through coffee and cocoa fields and untouched forest, and observe the plant life and over 300 diverse species of butterflies.

  • Climb Afadjato, the highest mountain in Ghana (2905 feet) to be rewarded with breathtaking views of the waterfalls, the range of mountains that make up the Ghana-Togo border, and surrounding villages.
  • Hike to the Tagbo Waterfalls, then relax and swim in a cool refreshing pool.
  • Drumming and dancing troupe also available for entertainment.
  • Six-room guesthouse at Liati Wote with drinks and traditional food available.
  • Close to Hohoe’s good hotels and restaurants.
  • In your own car: Head north of the Tema-Hohoe Road, to a police barrier at Golokwati junction. Make a right turn, and after about 6 km, turn left on an untarred road at the village of Liati Agbonyra. In another 4 km you get to Liati Soba. Take the turn to the right and, after another 4 km, you’ll be in Liati Wote.
  • By lorry: From Accra, board a vehicle at Tudu Station or the Tema Roundabout to Hohoe. Board another vehicle at Fodome Station, near the post office, which goes to Wote/Gbledi. The last vehicle usually leaves around 4-5 p.m. There is also an early morning lorry from Liate Wote back to Hohoe.
  • It is also possible to charter a taxi from Golokwati, to save you the trip to Hohoe.
Nearby Attractions:

Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, Wli Falls, and the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary.
